Kids getting ready to play boot scramble with the rodeo clown inside the arena.
In 2002 the Gaines Knights of Columbus was a newly established council. We began searching for ideas to raise money and further serve our community. One member, who rode bulls when he was younger, simply stated “well, you can have a rodeo in a cut corn field". This was soon found to be a bit of an understatement. The Knights learned a lot that first year, it was literally their first rodeo.
Born of a desire to better serve the community, the Gaines Knights unknowingly created an event which many look forward to each year. What started with a few hundred people per night has grown into a few thousand people per night. Although the rodeo has grown over the years the same core values still exist each year while planning. The Knights strive to provide a safe, family-friendly environment; where all can come to enjoy a good, real action rodeo.
The unwavering support of the community has helped the council to thrive, allowing us to keep serving them in whatever way they need. A true heart felt thank you from the Gaines Knights of Columbus to all its rodeo fans!!
